• Electrical Construction Apprentice

    Job Summary:
    An electrician apprentice is responsible for assisting journeyman electricians in planning, installing, and repairing electrical systems. The apprentice will be required to perform maintenance tasks, troubleshoot electrical issues, and learn how to safely handle electrical equipment and tools. The apprentice will also receive on-the-job training.
    Job Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Assist journeyman electricians in installing and repairing electrical systems, including lighting, wiring, and control systems
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks on electrical systems and equipment
    • Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions and determine root causes of issues
    • Learn how to safely operate electrical equipment and tools, such as voltage testers, cable cutters, and conduit benders
    • Read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints to plan electrical system installations
    • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when handling electrical equipment and tools
    • Assist with the installation of electrical panels, circuit breakers, and other components
    • Communicate with team members to ensure successful completion of projects
    Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program preferred
    • Basic knowledge of electrical principles and concepts
    • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints
    • Good communication skills to work effectively with team members
    • Ability to follow all safety procedures and guidelines when working with electrical equipment and tools
    • Physical ability to stand, stoop, bend, and work in confined spaces as required
    • Valid Drivers license
    • Reliable transportation
    • At least 18 years of age
    Working Conditions:
    The electrician apprentices will spend most of their time working indoors or outdoors on construction sites, in homes, or in commercial buildings. They will be required to work in tight spaces, climb ladders, and lift heavy equipment. The apprentice will need to be able to work in all weather conditions and be willing to travel to different job sites.

    • Identifying and separating wires by color.
    • Digging trenches and working in trenches.
    • Assisting in the moving, positioning and fastening of heavy electrical equipment.
    • Lifting, positioning, and fastening objects such as light fixtures, wire, conduit, junction boxes, motors, and other equipment.
    • Carrying material and tools from location to location or floor to floor.
    • Crawling under floors and working in attics where space is limited.
    • Working under hot and cold weather conditions, indoors and outdoors.
    • Lifting and working with tools and equipment above head.
    Physical Demands:
    • Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling up to 100 lbs.
    • Driving distances over 50 miles
    • Repetitive motions such as fine dexterity, grasping, holding.
    • Twisting, Turning, reaching over shoulders and head.
    • Reaching outward, climbing, crawling, kneeling, squatting.
    • Walk on normal, uneven, and slippery surfaces.
