Modeled after the ESPN ESPYS, The Night of Champions brings together high school athletes, coaches, school staff, family members, community leaders, and partners for an unforgettable evening of recognition and inspiration. Nominations are submitted by coaches, athletic directors, and school employees across 10 award categories, with finalists selected by an independent panel of local sports journalists. The top three finalists in each category are invited to attend the event, where one will be named the winner on the night for each category.

A two-time back-to-back SEC Player of the Year and First Vice President of the National Basketball Players Association, Grant Williams is a leader on and off the court. A former Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics player, Williams, currently plays Power Forward for the Charlotte Hornets. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in just three years with a degree in supply chain management — one of the top public programs in the country for that field. Williams has been recognized as a passionate advocate for leadership, teamwork, mental health awareness, gender equality, and giving back to the community.
Williams is perhaps best known off the court for his deep commitment to empowering young people. He created a group mentoring program for youth and received the prestigious Bill Russell Mentoring Award for his work. His energy, humor, storytelling, and willingness to be vulnerable make him a natural fit for an evening dedicated to the next generation of leaders — student athletes who are writing their own stories of hard work and heart.
