A MUSIC LOVER’S DREAM COME TRUE Kingsport, TN – Giuseppe Verdi’s Messa da Requiem is a musician’s, and music lovers’, dream come true! Few other pieces offer the drama of opera and the thrill of fantastic symphonic writing combined with stellar, flawless solo moments. Verdi’s Requiem does all that and more. Symphony of the Mountains will perform this beloved masterpiece on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 7:30pm at the Toy F. Reid Eastman Employee Center in Kingsport, TN. Joined by Voices of the Mountains, ETSU Choirs and dynamic soloists Jennifer Barnett – Soprano, Mary Gayle Greene – Alto, Wesley Morgan – Tenor, and Zack Rabin – Bass, the halls of the Eastman Center will be filled with striking resonance. Written to honor Verdi’s dear friend and poet, Alessandro Manzoni, the piece is the ultimate dramatic story. Conveying emotions from profound loss in a subdued key to the fire and fury of terror at what lies ahead on judgment day in the Dies Irae section and back to a hushed and desperate prayer. The work splits off into different directions throughout, but always returns to the pounding blows of the bass drum and thunderous orchestra playing at full throttle. Tickets to this awe-inspiring performance are only $25 with all children and students admitted free. Group discounts for 10+ are available by calling the Symphony Box Office. To order your tickets, call Symphony of the Mountains Box Office at (423) 392-8423 or visit us on the web at www.SymphonyOfTheMountains.org. Sponsored by: Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce, C.
