The Million Mile City challenge is being issued by Healthy Kingsport to inspire community members of all ages and physical fitness levels to come together and log a collective one million miles of exercise between November 28, 2016 and November 30, 2017. While this may seem an unsurmountable challenge, it is more than doable if you break this challenge down into manageable, bite-size pieces. Consider the facts: Kingsport’s population hovers around 53,000 people. If 10,000 individuals (or just one-fifth of our city’s population) joined the effort and exercised the equivalent of one mile per day, we would meet our collective goal and make history! Your contribution to Kingsport’s upcoming Centennial Celebration could be 100 miles of exercise over a year’s time. Can you think of a better way to energize your Kingsport Spirit? You would be part of an organic movement that will most certainly make you healthier and solidify our community’s position as a great place to live, work, and play.
