Regional Center for Applied Technology
A second part of the Educate and Grow program is the development of a Regional Center of Applied Technoloy (RCAT) that is located in downtown Kingsport. The center is operated by Northeast State Technical Community College (NSTCC). RCAT will offer high tech training to the current workforce and new students. With 80 percent of prospective jobs in the high tech industry, Kingsport is preparing for the future.

Education is an important factor in the growth of cities. Kingsport residents are blessed by having a diverse group of higher learning institutions. Colleges and universities in the region provide Kingsport businesses with a trained workforce that will enhance the city's economy well into the 21st century.

Each school in the Tri-Cities region has its own unique aspects. Whether students are interested in a two-year degree or becoming a medical doctor, education options abound. Throughout the region, there are programs for traditional students, adult learners and those seeking masters or doctoral level degrees. Its array of educational opportunities was a major benefit to Tri-Cities in the recent All-American City competition.
