Chamber Education Committee Core Values
Uniting Business Resources for Excellence in Education

1. Prepare students to enter the workforce.
2. Support measurement of results to encourage accountability and identify needs.
3. Foster an environment conducive to learning.
4. Promote innovative approaches to education, including higher levels of competition and parental choice.
5. Promote an atmosphere of open communication between educators, the business community and the community at large. Be an advocate for education where appropriate.

The Chamber Education Committee is actively involved in the following activities:

• Expanding the TN/VA Scholars Program.
• Sullivan County Imagination Library
• Coordinating a regional job fair for 8th grade students (February of each year).
• Continuing to improve and develop programs.
• Organizing forums focusing on educational issues and interests of the business community and continue communication efforts.
• Serving as advocates when appropriate on local and state issues bearing impact on education (Position Paper on Funding Education).
• Continuing to partner with other education related organizations.
