8th grade students think about their futures and explore Oak Ridge National Laboratory at 2018 Regional Career Expo
Approximately 2,300 eighth grade students from Kingsport City, Hawkins County, Scott County, Sullivan County, and Washington County schools will be visiting the Kingsport Academic Village during the Regional Career Expo 2018.
Aligned with Eastman’s focus on advancing science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) education, students will have an opportunity to learn about a variety of careers, including arts and communications; automotive; business and marketing; culinary arts; education; engineering and science; health and medicine; human services; legal services; manufacturing and technology.
This year, Eastman is pleased to share a new and exciting educational opportunity open to the community. In partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), the ORNL Science Fair will be available to engage students and community members of all ages in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math. The ORNL fair consists of six interactive trailers that give visitors the chance to explore materials under a neutron beam; watch a star explode; take a virtual walk through Titan, the most powerful supercomputer; and much more! The ORNL Science Fair is free and open to the community on Thursday, March 8 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Farmer’s Market.
The four-day event is sponsored by Eastman, working in partnership with Junior Achievement of Tri-Cities TN/VA, Kingsport Chamber of Commerce, and Northeast State Community College.
