Vi Germinario
I have served four years as vice-president of the Kingsport
City School Board. While proud of the Kingsport City Schools
and for the accomplishments that I've contributed to during
that time, there is still more to be done. This is a pivotal
time for both our schools and our community. It will be
important to continue to move progressively forward while
dealing with fiscal challenges and changing demographics.
The Kingsport City Schools need to stand out not only from
a state or regional perspective, but nationally as well.
The implementation of Spanish being taught K-12 and the
partnership with Northeast State is an example of programs
that set us apart from other school systems. This type of
progressive thinking needs to continue on our Kingsport
City School Board. My experience and track record will ensure
that it does. |

I have enjoyed working on the Kingsport Board of Education
and am pleased with our many accomplishments over the past
4 years. People in Kingsport, parents of our students, teachers,
and others in the community, are very appreciative of our
work and say – “Thanks” – frequently;
that’s rewarding! |

My children spent their entire K-12 educational career in
the Kingsport City Schools, acquiring a good education,
and being well prepared for college. I served for sixteen
years in PTA at Johnson Elementary, Robinson Middle, and
Dobyns-Bennett High schools, including ten years with the
Robinson and Dobyns-Bennett Band Boosters. I received great
satisfaction from assisting in the schools and serving on
system-wide committees. Now that my children have graduated,
I would like to give back to this community and to help
assure that our schools will remain strong so that all children
in Kingsport will continue to obtain a good education. I
now have the time to devote to this position, to study and
understand the issues, and to work with others to find solutions
to the challenges that lay before us. |

I became interested in serving on the Kingsport Board in
1995 for 3 reasons:
1.. I had children in Kingsport schools.
2.. I have a background in education and I felt I could
offer advice on improvement of an educational program
that had lost a lot of community support. I believe that
we have solved that problem.
3.. I have been a Kingsport business owner and taxpayer
for 30 years; I believe that I can represent the best
interest of children, parents, community members and taxpayers.
